BF'ing

I have officially been denied by my 8 month old. Breastfeeding my first son was no easy task. I barely made it to 6 months. I felt like a failure. It's a shame new moms are put through the ringer. Lots of guilt and peer pressure lead you to feel that if you don't your child will grow to have rotten teeth, hyper activity, walk with a limp and several failed marriages. Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a little but they really do push it these days. Being a new mom and a germ phobe I admit I was a total sucker. They had me at "you'll boost the babies immune system." I pumped those puppies dry. With my new little guy I really wanted things to go smoothly. I can't complain I have gone almost 3 months longer. This time instead of me running out of milk my loving son is rejecting the boob. I'm torn...relieved that I will no longer be breastfeeding a bear trap (he has 6 teeth) and sad that this bonding time is ending. I'm the first to joke about the moms who don't want to let go and here I am. I guess it's better that it happens now and not when he is 10.

So lately I've been walking around with my head hanging down. Not in shame but on the hunt.....for disgusting little critters. I noticed about a week ago some unwanted guest. Black carpenter ants. In case you haven't come in contact with one of these ferocious beast they are about an inch long. After extensive internet research... Ok 5 minutes, I found a few interesting facts.

1) They don't travel in lines like their sister Argentine ant.

2) They nest in weakened mildew wood (thank God we rent).

3) My favorite fact.... they bite!!! Non poisonous but can be painful and leave a red bump for a few days.

4)They are most active at night. Great!

5) I did hear a rumour that if you kill one they give off a scent or silent war cry that alerts their friends.

It is no secret that I have a serious problem with bugs. I've even been known to call the police once for an excessive fly problem. The sad thing is the Hillsborough police department actually came to investigate.

My wonderful husband decided to take matters into his own hands. Our landlord said it was too much of a liability. He sprayed the perimeter of the house. This has helped a little....the aftermath was pretty freaky. I couldn't even name most of the dead bugs. Wish me luck. I'm doing better I haven't dialed 911 ....... yet.

Mommy Brain

Wow... I didn't even realize that I signed up for a blog. I must be suffering from mommy brain. You know that feeling as you walk out of the grocery store with a full cart and have no fricken idea where you parked. It's really bad when you actually have a bag boy assisting you. I can't believe I just admitted to ever accepting their help. Great.. now I have mommy amnesia and I'm lazy. So what should I be blogging about? Who will actually read this? Do I divulge intimate details or do I discuss the latest A.I. results? Until next time...
