Changes

Every day I notice something new and exciting about my 18 month old son. His sweet innocent eyes have a new spark. His body gets longer and leaner each day. But the biggest change of all is his personality. His emotions grow more and more complex yet defined. When he gets angry rather than move on to something bigger and better he lets us know with a red face and a tug of his own hair. Though disturbing this may be to some it amazes me. My little man is growing up.

At first his new found freedom of expression left my husband and I concerned. Is this normal? Why is he so cranky? But we quickly found from other parents this behavior is common and a sign of maturity. Gone are the days of drooling little smiles and giggles. Now our days are full of desperate attempts to communicate and get his very important point across. I do not like mashed potatoes sounds easy enough for us to say. He informs us with a sour face and tongue pushing food from his mouth. I'm tired is usually a dramatic throw to the floor paired with crying hysterically and kicking of his feet. He is our little man and every day he shows us something new. I can't wait til tomorrow!
